Supplementation

"In the future, we will not be able to rely anymore on our premise that the consumption of a varied balanced diet will provide all the essential trace elements, because such a diet will be very difficult to obtain for millions of people."
    - Dr. Walter Mertz, U.S. Department of Agriculture, told to congress in 1977.

Our modern food source no longer contains the nutrients necessary for optimal functioning of the human body. Essential nutrients are robbed from our modern food sources through:

Soil depletion – because of long-term farming, excessive use of NPK fertilisers, (trace elements are never deliberately replaced), changes in varieties of plants grown and loss of micro-organisms in the soil.

Green harvest – essential nutrients come into a fruit or vegetable in the last 2 – 3 days of vine-ripening. Most of the fruits and vegetables we consume today are harvested when they are still green. When was the last time you ate a vine ripened apple?

Transport – perishable fruits and vegetables are shipped over long distances. Nutrient contentof a harvested plant diminshes on a daily basis as it begins to decay.

Processing – as soon as raw ingredients are processed for shipping or consumption, nutrient content is depleted.

The following example from "Minerals and Your Health" by Len Mervyn, Ph.D. (Keats Publishing, 1981) shows mineral loss when flour is refined.

Calcium - 60%   Iron - 75.6%
Copper - 67.9% Molybdenum - 48%
Sodium - 78.3% Potassium - 77%
Cobalt - 88.5% Molybdenum - 48%
Phosphorus - 70.9% Zinc - 77.7%
Manganese - 85.8% Chromium - 98%
Magnesium - 84.7% Selenium - 15.9%

The Balanced Body System recommends nutritional supplementation to ensure complete nutritional support for your body.

"You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.”
- Dr. Linus Pauling the two-time Nobel Prize winner
