Right Nutrients For You

Your body extracts the nutrients it needs from the food you eat.

Any food that enters your digestive tract is broken down into its basic components. Protein, fat, and carbohydrate are assimilated for energy and tissue repair, while vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients and many other nutritional compounds are processed and utilized in a myriad of ways.

Prolonged absence of required nutrients can result in serious health consequences. It is vitally important to provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function on a regular basis.

If your goal is fat loss, you need to be aware that nutrients play as important a role in burning fat as do fuel intake and exercise. Your body requires adequate nutrition through total nutrients, not just calories. It is entirely possible to get adequate calories in a day, but inadequate nutrients. If your body senses a nutrient deficiency it will assume that it is starving and will not release fat as a method of self-preservation.

The Balanced Body System encourages you to ingest as many nutrients from whole food as possible on a daily basis and add nutritional supplements to make up for the deficit in our modern food source. The amount and type of supplementation your body requires will be unique to you.

You are familiar with vitamins and minerals, but may not be aware of several other critical nutrients that are necessary for proper cellular and organ function. Following are the major classes of nutrients that are typically deficient in our diet:

  • Monosaccharides – core nutrients essential for proper cellular function and healthy immune system function

  • Antioxidants – protect cells from the damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals which are caused by many things like toxins, stress, intense exercise, and even breathing

  • Phytosterols – also known as plant sterols, provide raw materials which help support the endocrine system's natural production and balance of hormones for optimal health

  • Vitamins and Minerals – a complex of all essential vitamins and minerals.
Note: The Balanced Body System recommends a vitamin and mineral complex that is 100% plant predigested and 100% bioavailable to the body. This can be difficult to find as the majority of vitamin and mineral complexes available at health food stores today contain synthetically derived minerals that are only 40% bioavailable to the body.
"You can trace every sickness, every disease, every ailment to a mineral deficiency.”
- Dr. Linus Pauling the two-time Nobel Prize winner
