Sharleen Jones

I have a background in Exercise Physiology, and have always been diligent as an adult about my own nutrition and exercise. Despite my efforts I began to have health challenges starting at a very young age, including elevated cholesterol and chronic knee pain that would affect my functioning at times.
Then, for no good reason, I put on 17 pounds over a short period of time in 2002 and was unable to lose the extra pounds no matter what I did with exercise or diet. While that was frustrating, the straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when I developed gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy in 2005. I was devastated. I couldn’t figure out why I was having all these problems when I was working so hard to be healthy. It was this event that finally spurred me to look for alternatives to the standard diet and lifestyle recommendations that I had been following to this point.
I began to research into genetic variations in metabolism and nutrient assimilation and came across a field of study called Nutrigenetics. I had never heard of it before, but it made a great deal of sense to me. I realized I had not been eating in a way that matched my particular genetics. I was eating good food, whole food, but not in the right ratios for my body.
When I began to shift my fuel intake to the correct ratio for my genetics I was amazed at the difference. Fat that had not budged for 5 years suddenly began to disappear, along with my cravings and afternoon mental fatigue. I am leaner and slimmer now than when I graduated high school. My energy is consistent and I have much better stamina. I rarely catch colds anymore, I feel more rested and my blood sugar fluctuations and elevated cholesterol are a thing of the past!
As an athlete, I am performing better now than I did 10 years ago. I recover more quickly, have better endurance and my knee pain has virtually disappeared. As a competitive fastball pitcher I have no trouble competing against players that are 12 years younger! In fact, this past season I was awarded the Top Pitcher trophy in my league. Thanks to my tailored nutrition and exercise program I am actually improving as I age!
I knew I had to get this information out to more people, so I developed The Balanced Body System as a comprehensive, customized Fat Loss and Peak Performance program. Now the principles of Nutrigenetics are available to everyone in a very user-friendly way. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to provide answers to people who have struggled for years to find the right mix of diet and exercise for their unique metabolic requirements. I look forward to more progress and success with our Balanced Body System clients! |
